A paler shade of pink

We keep a small selection of little doggie necessities at Aunty Biscuits.  She is responsible for washing them, repairing them, stock levels etc.  One of the mats we paddle over into the kitchen was turquoise with white spots, which doesn't show the dirt as badly as it sounds it should be.  Another is a red fleece coat which has been washed several times.  This time they shared a wash.  We now have a mat that is turquoise with a very, very delicate shade of pink.  Good job she likes pink.

Splash!

I've always been a little nervous of water and previously would go to any lengths to avoid getting my paws wet.  I have recently discovered the joy of (shallow) streams on a warm day.  Today I actually jumped into my favourite spot! Mum said this was real progress and she is very proud of me.  I think it will be a while before I go deeper than paw covering though.

Identified

The mystery of the unidentified white cotton has been solved.  it's going to be a bag and is currently going swimmingly.  As ever in life, as one mystery is solved another takes its place. In this instance it appeared that someone has purloined the last few inches of Aunty Biscuits trousers.  She seemed unaware and unconcerned about this.  Further investigation revealed that they are cropped trousers and supposed to have a bit missing.

Etched

Aunty Biscuit has picked up one of those laser etched crystal things with a portrait of me and Harrier on it.  She's really pleased with it.  At least it is something she is very unlikely to try herself.  She did once do a pyrography design of us on a wooden spoon as a present for Mum, which seemed to go very well, she didn't manage to singer herself in the process either.  Always a bonus I feel.

Paper squidging

Mum is tearing up paper to make paper logs with.  She does this by putting the paper in a bucket, adding water and leaving it a few days.  It gets squidged about during this time.  She then puts it in a mould, bounces on it and turns it out to dry.  This is her first year doing it so I'm hoping it will keep me lovely and snug in the winter.  People make decorative items out of papier mache I believe.  Its the sort of thing Aunty Biscuit does, best keep an eye on her in case she snaffles any to make a misshapen vase or similar.

Still waiting

As predicted the sewing up element of the rug has not yet happened.  We believe it may be scheduled for sometime in either June or July most likely September but as yet the exact year has not been specified.  We are sincerely hoping that it is 2016,  Since the last update I am thrilled to announce that Mum has finished the rug she's been making.  That is finished as in complete.  Edges done, strands evenly trimmed.  Aunty Biscuit take note!

Phase 1 complete!

Aunty Biscuit has finished phase 1 of her birthday present rug.  All the holes have been filled with yarn.  Its very pretty.  Phase 2 is to put binding on to finish it this may well take a while as she isn't the worlds most competent at sewing, suspect she may try to convince Mum to do it for her.  I think when finished it would make a perfect foil for my glamorous looks and should be donated to me.  I have opened negotiations on this but it is currently not going according to my plans.  There is time yet........

Flowering cherry

The flowering cherry at the front of the house is in full bloom again.  It is absolutely beautiful.  In some ways its a pity that it doesn't last longer, but I suppose that the brevity adds to the appreciation of it.  The delicate pink of the blooms is very similar to my latest blankie which was crocheted for me recently.  Its just done in basic rows of treble but it is wonderfully light but warm.

Starlings & Rhubarb

The upturn in the weather has meant more time outside for all.  Aunty Biscuits grass was infested with starlings yesterday evening.  This I think is because Harrier and I weren't there to chase them off.  We were basking on our patio and keeping half an eye on Mum who was doing something with rhubarb.  I'm not sure what exactly but if it evolves into either jam making or wool dyeing I will report back. Anyway back to the starlings, there were dozens of them scratting about.  Aunty Biscuit says they are iridescent in the sunlight.  Very poetical but I'm not sure what she means but presumably they are allowed there.

Spidergate

Mum found a somewhat substantial corpse of a spider today.  The mortal remains were picked up in a bit of tissue and unceremoniously flushed down the loo.  It could have had the decency to die when Aunty Biscuit was about - she's terrified of them!  You can usually rely on her to produce a decent scream when one crosses her path.  That said she copes  with knitted spiders and pompom spiders just fine but I suppose that is a bit different.  Apparently pompom spiders are quite easy to make.
