To make Up:
Break off yarn and thread through 6 remaining stitches on needles.  Pull off needle and pull tight.  Secure the ends of the yarn. Sew up back seam.  Sew in all loose ends and secure.  Make a Pompom and securely attach to the top of the hat.  Size of Pompom shown here is 4cm.  The ties under the chin are each prepared from 12 x 120cm lengths of thread (make 2).  These are halved and securely attached to the base of the ear flap.  In the image shown the midpoint of the yarn is pulled through the base of the ear flap using a 6 mm crochet hook to form a loop an the rest of the tie fed through it to secure.  The tie is then plaited to form a rope and the ends knotted.  Excess yarn is trimmed off the end of the ties.

Why not couple this with the Joan Moss Stitch Scarf, for the perfect winter look.
