Child's Stripy Tie Top Hat

This is a bright and cheerful hat for use on the cold mornings.  The size of the hat is quite versatile as the ties on the top allow it to be taken in as required.  Could be adjusted to fit a child or small adult.  The colours are extremely striking providing warmth and brightness to help chase away the coldness of a winter's morning.

The hat is easy to make and is ideal for beginners or more experienced knitters alike.  Total preparation time is probably about 4 - 8 hours depending on experience.

Cast Off

To make Up:
Sew up sides and top of hat.  Make 2 tie strings for the top of the hat by casting on 50sts, then casting off and secure.  Attach a tie string to the top corner of hat at both sides.  For best effect these should be attached after sewing up the edges not by incorporating them into the seam.
