Denver Nix's Crafty Blog Nicola Preston May 02 2014 On a recent trip to Denver Colorado, I was amazed by how amount of diversity of the street art. Denver is a flourishing metropolitan city, with staggering architecture. However the character of the city has been enhanced by the level of artistic expression on virtually every street corner. As a resident, I am sure that the art simply becomes the normal and eventually you stop noting it, but as an outsider it was lovely. The level of diversity is also difficult to believe. Almost every street corner has something different to look at, the most unexpected was a series of grates in the pavement that made animal noises as you walk near them, a herd of metallic bison stampeding down the centre of the main shopping mall, a totem pole in the middle of a car park and of course the well more usual street art. Denver also has a number of full size painted cows throughout the city. I only found two. These cows were apparently created by local artists for charity. Each artist was given the same basic cow shape and they could decorate however they wanted. The result was a herd of very unique cows which were then auctioned off. Although most were bought by private individuals, a number can still be found around the city. ?
