Whatever the pink thing is it seems to have a deep rib.  When I was younger I thought rib was a bone.  I now know that it can be either a bone or a base part in knitting.  Usually knit one purl one it provides structure to the ends of things.  Granny Biscuit always likes "a good deep rib" on her garments as "it gives it a better shape.  Aunty Biscuit agrees with her but complains bitterly the whole time she is doing it and will try any trick under the sun to palm it onto someone else.  It is at times like these that I am glad we do not have thumbs as I am sure we would get forced into the work house.  Mummy seems to quite like rib and is often bribed to complete the rib for Aunty Biscuit.  She likes the repetitive nature of it, as she can complete it while watching the telly or reading a book, as she says she can feel whether she is right or not.  Unfortunately she does not seem to have mastered stroking us while doing rib but we are working on improving that skill.
