Fungal thoughts

Oct 23 2020

Yesterday mild with a slight breeze was perfect snuffling through the ever-increasing layer of leaves on the ground weather which gave Aunty Biscuit plenty of time to further admire the beautiful colours of the ones waiting to drop off which somehow this year seem particularly splendid.  Today was slightly chilly and has now turned to rain which is ideal for lounging on the sofa admiring the wonders of nature through the window whilst watching human activities such as drinking tea and knitting.  There are some mushrooms or toadstools at the front of the house which reminds me that this year I have seen more fungi than usual scattered about the place.  This has ranged from some huge fibrous yellow things through to tiny little parasol mushrooms.  Several decaying bits of wood have frilly things and there is a bunch of a sort of pinky peach toadstools.  My advice would be don’t go sniffing or eating any fungi you come across in case they are poisonous and encourage your human not to either, although it is permissible to take photos of them and draw/paint pictures of them.
