How many different types of fastener can there possibly be out there?  I ask because the finishing touches to a project are just being done .  On this occasion plastic poppers have been used. I was surprised that there was no big debate over this until mum explained that the type of fastening choices need to be made at the beginning. Other options were considered at that point. Buttons, which thinking about it would need button holes.  Loop and hook tape, strongly suspected of being related to the sticky jack plant which the collie collects on her coat at the correct time of the year.  Metal press studs. Some were total non starters such as a zip.  Haven't they heard of duct tape I ask?
