The world is full of exciting things, I personally would not put a prepared length of wood forward as one of them, much as I accept that stick collecting is a favoured collie pastime.  Aunty Biscuit has been having a piece of fence repaired, and very pleased she is with it too.  There was an offcut piece of wood which Mum pounced on.  I assumed it was either to practice pyrography on or the human equivalent of a collie stick but no.  Apparently its perfect for putting under polymer buttons when drilling holes in them.  They baffle me at times.
