Pink snow

May 10 2015

I was slightly alarmed when I looked out of the lounge window this morning as it looked as though there was a smattering of pink snow.  It turns out that the flowering cherry tree is losing its blossom.  The delicate pink does look very pretty against the green of the grass.  A check on the trees at the back of the garden revealed that all the fruit trees are flowering beautifully and it is still on the trees.  Hopefully there will be a bumper crop later in the year of crab apples for mum to make crab apple jelly with also ordinary apples for making apple sauce and consequently Sunday lunch, which we hope ends up in our bowls too.  She then makes decorative labels and jam jar covers for any jars that she gives away as presents.  It is the pears that interest us dogs.  They windfall and attract the local hedgehogs so we can stand at the patio doors and woof at them.

mmmm

Nicola Preston  Not sure specifically about the ornamental cherry blossom but there is warnings about the fruiting cherry tree and their relatives as the leaves can generate cyanide as they die. Best fence them off if you have them to be safe.

lesley Taylor  Being a dog I'm not sure on the cherry blossom and horse thing. I have hwever been known to hoover up cherry likit from the floor of aunty biscuits car which is supposed to be for them. Jam jars are always welcome

lesley Taylor  It would appear that bark and slightly wilted leaves are the worst, so its best not to take any chances
