This is a bright and cheerful hat for use on the cold mornings. The variegated colours are extremely striking providing warmth and brightness to help chase away the coldness of a winter's morning.
The hat is easy to make and is ideal for beginners or more experienced knitters alike. Total preparation time is probably about 4 - 8 hours depending on experience.
1 x 100g of double knitting yarn in a variegated colour
Tension 24sts or 30 rows to 10cm, using stocking stitch on 33/4 mm needles
P Purl (number after it refers to how many stitches to Purl)
K Knit (number after it refers to how many stitches to knit)
To make hat (make 2 alike):
Using 3.25mm needles and the variegated yarn cast on 44 stitches.
Rib: [K1, P1] to end
Repeat this row a further 11 times, working 12 rows in total.
Change to 4mm needles and starting with a knit row work 44 rows in stocking stitch. Cast off
To make Up:
Sew up sides and top of hat. Taking the two side seams, fold the sides of the hat into the centre and secure the very top tip of both side seams to the center of the main hat with a large pompom.
