Ear warmer band for a Tiny Tear Sized Doll (16")


This free knitting pattern is for an earwarmer band for a 16" doll (equivalent to Tiny Tears in size) using self patterning yarn.  Simple to do as the shaping is achieved by using different sized needles, this is perfect for using up oddments and would also make an ideal first project for a child to knit their own dolls clothes with guidance as elastic could optionally added to aid fit if required.

Requirements:

1 pair of 3.75mm needles
1 pair of 4mm needles
1 pair 3.25 mm needles
20g of DK  self patterning yarn (coloured oddments may also be used, in which case allow sufficient of one colour for top and bottom rib).
Hat elastic (optional).

Tension:
Tension 22sts or 28 rows to 10 cm, using stocking stitch on 4.0 mm needles

Pattern:print

Band (Make 1):

Using 3.75mm needles, cast on 70 st .
Row 1: [K1,P1] repeat to end
Repeat row 1 a further 3 times (4 rows worked)
Change to 4 mm needles and work 8 rows in stocking stitch starting with a knit row.
Change to 3.25mm needles
Next row:[K1,P1] repeat to end
Repeat this row a further 3 times (4 rows worked)
Cast off in rib keeping continuity of pattern.

To make up:

Join the sides together and sew in any tail ends. If required thread some elastic around the top and bottom edges.
