This free knitting pattern for a child's Odds and Ends bag & purse. The bag measures approximately 18 x 22 cm (7 x 8.5 inches) and is perfect for holding all their secret treasures. The odds and ends bag is knitted in stockings stitch using scraps of double knitting (any length over 14 inches is suitable) in a variety of colours or textures, to produce a bag which is light and easy to handle. The matching purse measures 10cm x 7.5cm (4 x 3 inches) and is the perfect size to allow to keep pocket money safe.
Sew in any unfinished ends of yarn. With right side facing fold the bag, so that the main body of the bag is approximately 23 cm (9 inches) in length and the remaining work forms a flap of approximately 10cm (4 inches) in length to flop over the bag and close it. Sew up the side seams. Attach the piping cord to the side seams of the bag just under the flap. Attach two large press-studs onto the bottom edge of the flap and in the corresponding place on the front of the main bag. For the flowers: Sew together cast on and cast off edges of the flower. Sew in loose ends. Using the same colour yarn, attach the centre of each flower to the bag flap, positioned over press-stud, an optional bead can be threaded onto the yarn for that extra sparkle.
