A tactical error

Yesterday evening Mum and Aunty Biscuit had one of those chocolate covered ice cream on a stick things (we had a small liver rich treat each instead as they are better for us).   When Aunty Biscuit went Mum thought it was ever so sweet because I watched her go through the gap in the curtains.  Unfortunately this meant she was watching me and interrupted my plans.  Having ascertained that the car engine and lights were on I extracted the ice cream wrapper from the bin and was taking it away for experimentation purposes when Mum told me off, I hadn’t factored her into my calculations, oops..  I dropped it and went up to bed in a huff.  To show there were no hard feelings I encouraged her to get up in good time this morning (6am), this involved taking proceedings to level 3. Level 1 is noisy earflapping, level 2 is jump on the bed and bounce, level3 is bounce on Mums head, level 4 is bat her on the nose with a paw.  It’s a good job I did as i ...

Sticky notes

Mum and Aunty Biscuit were doing some forthcoming project of the month planning which involved a board, some paper and some sticky notes and me and Harrier keeping an eye on things .  It was going quite well I believe with discussions of spooks v spiders and polar bears v penguins until an unforeseen small beige dog trotted past the window.  Mum and Aunty Biscuit are now picking up a board and paper and retrieving sticky notes from carpets and dogs and we have learnt a new rude word.  Sticky notes are one of those small items that are apparently a marvellous invention, they are handy for marking things on knitting patterns as they can be moved around.  Aunty Biscuit says she sometimes uses them when rubber stamping although I’m not sure what she does as she didn’t elaborate.

Swanning about

Mum and Aunty Biscuit followed our example and had lunch outdoors today.  They go to a sort of nature reserve near where they work that is very beautiful.  Whilst chomping through sausage and chips (Mum) and ham & coleslaw sarnie (Aunty Biscuit) they enjoyed the scenery and the wildlife whilst looking across a large pond.  The comment was how many differing shades of green were there mixed in together....

An Al fresco dining experience.

On a mild evening such as this we canine members of the family enjoy taking our evening meal on the patio.  The patio is fringed with fragrant blooming roses, clematis and camellia down one side and pots of plants down the other.  This evening was particularly sublime as Harrier has been slightly off colour the past couple of days (suspected slight chill but picking up well) hence there was a necessity to include chicken into the main course “to build him up a bit”.  This was mixed with our usual wheat free biscuits and a little dog food served in finest stainless steel bowls.  I would be lying if I told you that we had a long leisurely meal – we troughed it ASAP in case anyone else wanted it.  Dessert consisted of a small fresh breath dental stick.  This is a necessity for Harrier as he tends to suffer from what I believe is termed “dogbreath”, which is hardly surprising as he is one.  We have now settled down to supervi ...

Sheds.

We’ve been watching some programmes on sheds.  I must admit I wasn’t sure on this at first but was prepared to perch on Aunty Biscuits lap and give it a go.  They were surprisingly interesting and demonstrate the creativity that is out there.  Aunty Biscuit doesn’t have a shed and worries that it would be overrun with scary spiders if she acquired one.  Mum has a large shed with a hedgehog living underneath it, she uses it for preparing horseshoes for decorating.  In comparison to the sheds on the TV mums is very boringly shed shaped and functional, we feel it would benefit from a few canine amenities.  Our modest suggestions are as follows.....

Delivered at last!

Eureka!  I am now in possession of my brand new blankie.  Thanks to mum stitching it into a large hexagon rather than rows, it has got slightly more hexagons than Aunty Biscuit bargained for (37) but considerably less than my original specification, (which would have worked out at approximately 177600).  She also persuaded her that it needed a border around the edge “to finish it off.  I had hoped that it would be about 10 feet wide but sadly it’s not.  Despite all this I’m really pleased with it and am now trying to persuade Aunty Biscuit to write the pattern up so that should your owner wish to make you one they can.....

A spooky encounter

We thought saw a ghost! We were walking up the field when this large veiled grey apparition appeared before us with a slight glow and strange primitive celtic/pictish darker markings down the back.  It drifted towards us getting closer.  It was only when it stuck its head in a bucket the other side of the fence and started eating I realised it was pony wearing a fancy dress outfit....

Overtime

Mum is working late tonight so Aunty Biscuit is minding us.  From a catering point of view this is good as she panders slightly to our whims within the confines of our dietary requirements.  It does however provide an excuse to play the lap and sofa placement game.  The idea of the lap game is that you climb onto her lap and displace the dog already on it.  This alternates between us until one gets fed up and stares out of the window until something worth woofing at goes past, then scamper outside as the other follows.  The game then begins again.  The sofa game is similar except it involves lying in the donut dog bed next to her, putting your head on her leg and demand blankies, tummy rubs etc.  until the other dog displaces you.  The real object is for the attention although she does tease us that we are deliberately sabotaging progress of her dragons tail knitting.  As if such a thing would even cross our minds….

The chunky hat and scarf set for a doll as first mentioned in my blustery evening blog has now been sewn up and the pattern is in the process of being checked and written up.  I did hope to snaffle the scarf for myself but mum is keeping an eye on it. I have however managed to sneak a picture of it (nowhere near as good a photos mum takes, but I am a dog and cameras have not been developed for paws yet).

A modelling job

I'm not sure whether it’s been my lie in protest or my threats to call in trained negotiators but I’ve been promised my blankie by the end of the week subject to no further hexagons being required.  I’m very excited by the prospect.  Harriers blanket has been finished and is possibly going to feature as a project of the month!  You heard it here first.  Naturally I have been asked to model for the photos, my fee being a nominal two dog treats and a tummy rub. ( I have also currently possession of the new blanket, I may lease it back to Harrier when mine arrives.....
