We have a woolly mammoth sitting on the coffee table wearing a hat!  The mammoth I hasten to add is a soft toy which turned up when mum returned from visiting relatives in Shropshire.  The reason for it wearing the hat eluded me at first until I spotted the slightly misshapen pompom next to it.  I then deduced that it must have been put on the mammoth by Aunty Biscuit as a whopping great hint to mum that the pompom needs trimming and attaching.

The hat and pompom were knitted out of the same packet of 10 balls of chunky yarn as a jumper for Aunty Biscuit (who isn’t exactly small), a 24” childs jumper,  a teacosy and a dog coat (which Harrier thinks is for him, I know he is mistaken as it will look so much better on me) so it seems to go a long way.
