Picking up necks

Nov 05 2017

Mum has been on a mending spree.  Two dog coats have been mended, one had been a victim of elastic failure the other was a velcro incident. I'm relieved that they are both back in service although one is Harriers its good to know I can borrow it if need be.  A further dog coat has been altered, even better as winter is approaching.  The jumper has now been cast off the needles so is now waiting for the neck to be picked up and knitted.  Picking up necks can be a bit of a tricky business as it needs to be done evenly across the various edges, apparently a good way of doing it is to pull new yarn through with a crochet hook (or tunisian crochet hook) and knitting it on as opposed to just sticking a needle into the flat stitch.  As the jumper is super chunky it is even more tricky as any little unevenness would be magnified, I will be keeping a sharp eye on this stage.

Aunty Biscuit meanwhile has been poorly most of this week but is feeling better now.  This has severely curtailed her crafting activities so rug progress is not where it should be.
