Today has been shopping day.  I inspected the bags and just happened to notice a substantial turkey leg drumstick complete with bone in one of them.  The size of it I would not have been surprised if they had moved it from the car to the house in the wheelbarrow.

I correctly assumed that as this is something not normally on the human menu that it was destined for us canines,  I eagerly anticipated a sumptuous feast for tea, sadly this was not to be.  Plan A was to cook it for us in the pressure cooker which would give a short cooking time -it wouldn't fit.  Plan B was to boil it in our normal pet pan along with some carrots and butternut squash.  It hung slightly over the edge but seemed to be taking a very long time to come to the boil.  Plan C was to put it in a bigger pan.  It still didn't fit but more was under water with the top sticking out.  Plan D was shove the whole lot in the oven.  By the time we had had our tea fishy fish pie dogfood, (Harriers favourite) with grated raw carrot (and nearly grated Aunty Biscuit finger), our evening constitutional and Aunty Biscuit had knitted three quarters of a sheeps head whilst Mum had done things with the horses and caught up on the weeks events with Aunty Joan, it was cooked.  By this stage it looked like something out of a horror film as it was part roasted and part boiled.  I expect that we will have at least two meals each out of it although Mum says we are not allowed the bone.  I'm now wondering where we could acquire an ostrich drumstick and whether a metal dustbin would fit on the cooker to cook it in
